If you've been reading this blog for some time, you'll know that I love nothing more than LOADS and loads of photos! Two of my absolute favourite blogs, that I go back to time and time again, both because I adore their content, but also for mega amounts of inspiration, are Love Taza and Barefoot Blonde, and both are HUGE lovers of over-the-top amounts of photos, which fortunately are all utterly amazing too!
Now back in 2015 I invested in a new 50mm lens for my camera in the hopes of upping my photography game! And well in all honesty, I used it a handful of times, and then reverted back to my trusty kit lens.
Fast forward to 2017 and I decided that I'm going to try again and see if I can master this lens and what it's capable of producing! And I'm pleased to say, I'm actually doing it and the results are fab!
Basically this lens is fabulous for people photos, and as that is kind of 90% of my photography, it's a match made in heaven.
The lens let's in lots of light, meaning much less time editing, and also makes capturing the atmosphere, even in lower lights easier. The lens also works to create really great blurred backgrounds, which keeps the focus on the foreground - ideal for photos of the family.
On a side note, it is also almost silent when it comes to focusing so is well placed for video footage too (roll on summer videos!!)
For this post I've taken a range of photos, including still life's and portraits to show you have versatile the lens can be.
As for lighting, I've placed the original images here, which is very unusual for me as I tend to brighten all my images, though as I said previously, my editing has been cut in half with this lens as it lets in so much light! *praise the camera Gods* (as full disclosure, the only editing I have done is resizing the image to fit across the page correctly, and changing to a png format as I do with all my blog photos as I believe they represent their colour better - jpegs online have a habit of changing colour slightly)
^^And when you need to get more in the frame... just move further away! And again... that background! I'm really excited to try this in busier locations like the city where blur is going to work so very well!^^

Honestly, once you get past the fact that their is no zoom on the lens, so you physically have to move, and that you need to be stood further away to frame images, it's a beautiful lens to work with, even Dann is loving playing with it!
I really think our portraits have gone up in the photo goals league, and I'm loving our food photography soooo much!
I can also see this being a beauty bloggers best friend as it focuses on the foreground product and blurs the background, giving all the attention to the product.
I'm so looking forward to getting out and about with this lens this summer and getting some picture perfect memories, and maybe, just maybe, starting to live up to my photography inspirations!
