Henry's eight month update
Another month down and we're already mid way through February! This month is already going WAY faster than January!
This last month we've been really working on getting out and about, and making sure Henry gets lots of socialising. We're also working harder than ever on seeing family and friends so he recognises the people that are going to be in his life.
I have to admit I think the last couple of months have been my favourites developmentally, especially as he grows his little personality. He's really very happy 90% of the time and will smile for anyone, which of course makes this mama very proud! He's a total charmer without the need for any words at all - that's some skill!
So what's new for this chunky eight month old? (you can read his seven month update here)
We've started swim classes (currently writing this after our third class) and I think they might just be the highlight of my week. He adores being in the pool and gets super excited the minute he can see the water. He's all splashes and giggles! I'll be doing a full blog post on swimming soon!
We're also attending baby group every week (very proud of myself to sticking with this) and Henry seems to love it. He's a huge fan of other babies and loves to practice his crawling!
Speaking of crawling, the army-crawl of last month is slowly progressing into a full crawl. Just need to get those knees under him a little more, but man alive has he picked up the pace! Unfortunately he has also learnt how to crawl through things,i.e. the coffee table and then gets stuck in corners that he can't turn around in or reverse out of! I spend an inordinate amount of time retrieving him from corners of the living room.
His unsupported sitting is also much improved, though he does still face plant the carpet on a daily basis, but can happily sit unaided for a good 5-10 minutes now!
He's also starting to get into walking, with lots of support from me, but he's actually moving his legs in the correct motion, and putting flat feet down which is huge progress!
We also had our first word, the day after his seven month birthday - mama!! I'm not going to lie, I barely held the tears in! It took me a few days to truly convince myself he was saying mama intentionally, but he does!!
Baby Led Weaning is still going strong, and we're introducing a little bit of cutlery at dinner times too now as he loves spoons!
Sleeping and napping is still pretty much the same, and nothing new really to report apart from Henry developing some sleep crawling techniques which unfortunately end up waking him as he bangs his head on the sides of the cotbed!
And as for me? Well I'm good. Though I seem to be struggling more than ever to wake up and get out of bed in the mornings (I blame the cold weather) I do love spending time with my little lad. Becoming a mother has been the best thing to happen to me, and has brought not only my beautiful loving baby boy, but also a lovely group of mama blogger friends in various chats that love and support each other. It's been a genuine day-saver on more than occasion knowing I can turn to these girls and share my teething/pooping/baby crying woes with no judgement and just honest helpful advice. Plus we all know mums love to talk about poop!
I'll finish here for this update!! Now if time could slow down a little bit, that would be great!
